New Business Community, the Grand Connection Supports Small Business Suffering from the Pandemic: Collaboration and Grand Giving Helps Entrepreneurs Survive and Thrive in a Global Marketplace. It was the onset of the pandemic in March 2020, when two friends looked out over the edge of the Grand Canyon and knew they needed to do something. The world was about to change, and businesses would be suffering. Little did they know this would turn into something so grand.

The two founders, Carolyn Cooper-McOuatt, of Inspired Business Development and Susan Jarema of New Earth Marketing have been working with entrepreneurs for over three decades. The two met 25 years ago teaching business classes at a local college. “When Susan invited me to join her on a vacation in AZ in March 2020, I felt a calling to go” said Carolyn, “It was that breathless moment at the edge of the Grand Canyon where the inspiration to start our own grand adventure into the world of virtual networking events was born.

Two years later, and over 50 events, their community has grown into a movement. “Over 5000 people from over 35 countries have been to our events, and our social media reach is now well over 500k” says Susan. “This comes from the power of collaboration”, a value that the founders live by. In addition to ‘EDUnetworking’ (a word they coined themselves), they help their community get visibility through collaborative marketing.

The community believes in cooperation over competition and shares the philosophy of Grand Giving. “Everyone wants to be of service” shares Carolyn. “Since COVID, there has been a shift in the world. More people want to live with purpose, connect to their passion, make a difference, and give back.”  Members give back by facilitating breakout masterminds, sharing their wisdom in master classes, and supporting each other through collaboration – sharing resources, skills, expertise, connections, referrals, and opportunities. The Grand Giveaway, offering free access to business resources to all, and is a perfect example of a collaborative initiative that is win-win-win for everyone.

Success has come from collaborating with virtual networking organizations around the globe to give both communities visibility and the opportunity to co-market together. Rather than be competitors, The Grand Connection is known as being the connector of connectors by helping members grow their network and forming meaningful collaborative relationships, called Grand Connections.

This dynamic duo’s goal is to establish the Grand Connection as the Netflix of networking, providing extraordinary value and connections to small businesses worldwide through collaboration and grand giving. ‘You don’t have to do it alone’ is their proverb. Carolyn and Susan invite you to experience the power of collaboration by attending a Grand Connection event and participating in the Grand Giveaway.

Susan and Carolyn are open to interviews on collaboration, business networking and skills to help small businesses survive and thrive. Reach out to or
