Keep Girls In School – Menstrual Pads Program for Girls In Africa
- Description
Members, did you know that girls in Africa don’t have menstrual supplies and as such miss a week of school every month? Something we take for granted as being available to us so we can go about our daily lives, it a burden on them, simply because they are a girl. To make it worse, everyone knows WHY they aren’t at school, and that is embarrassing too.
At Girls Matter, our mission is to keep girls in school as in doing so we stop teen marriages, break the poverty cycle of their mothers and can raise the GDP of the country simply by sponsoring girls’ education.
And now we want to take it 1 step further and start supplying menstrual pads in the areas in which we work. For $20 you can support 1 girl in Uganda with menstrual supplies for her High school years, thanks to Rotary Organization that has built a manufacturing plant to produce the re-usable /washable pads.
In Kenya, we are supporting 3000 girls from 12 schools and for $10 you can support 1 girl for 1 year. These pads are made by Jali Sisters that employs men and women to make them, while they earn an income for doing so.
We’ve created a Go Fund Me to raise the funds we need. Let’s change the lives of girls in Africa, and help them go to school EVERY DAY of the month!
Thank you for making a difference in the lives of girls, and feel free to share the link with others who will want to support this campaign.
